Refugee subterfuge

This evening Superthumby, Jawaman and I decided to take a stroll to the beach nearby. On the way, I saw the recently constructed office of the UNHCR- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I was reminded of the persecutions i was subject to in India and so decided to make an application to him for refugee status in a foreign country.

I am aware that I will have to make a strong case for refugee status. It goes like this....

It was about 6 years ago. I went to vote at the local bodies elections. My name was not in the list of candidates. Nor was it there in the voters' list. I have been disfranchised by the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission. ( No way am I going to mention in my application to UNHCR that i regularly get to vote in the general elections)

Superthumby does not agree that it is a strong case for getting status of refugee status in a foreign country. Moreso when i am choosy about my destination; Sweden or other scandinavian countries where the women are blonde and beautiful. He feels that with a reason like that in my application I am more likely to make it to East Timor or Papua New Guinea.

Jawaman ridiculed the very discussion as he believes that it is not UNHCR's business to create refugees and export them to European Countries. Rather, it is to make it a trifle easier for refugees who come here to get integrated sooner into Indian life.

May be he is right as he ususally is. Yet, I might just make an application. If Jawaman were right, then I shudder to think about refugees who come to India......Is n't it an example for the dictum- From the Frying Pan to the Fire.

Guide ( Goad ) Me pals!

More in next ....about my application after I meet the officials.

Regarding your choice of destinations, I have no objections. But, if they package you off to Papua New Guinea, the chances of hooking up with a blonde would be considerably lower than in Besant Nagar. But still, that place is GOOD ENOUGH.....

I think you shouldn't give up fighting for your just cause, instead all I feel you need, is a small change in attitude. Rather than fight for your refugee status, stand up and fight for getting refugee status in India for thousands of poor blonde beautiful Swedish girls.

Hey man. No, I haven't read anything about the Hindu philosophy on non-dualism and such, but I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be reading your blog often now. =D
